The informational meeting for the new Bettendorf Baseball Club (BBC), which was postponed by damaging storms earlier this month, has been rescheduled for Sunday, Sept. 20 from 7-7:45 p.m. at the Crow Creek Park 4-Plex.

The “BBC” is a partnership between* Bettendorf-Pleasant Valley Youth Baseball* and Bettendorf High School designed to offer BPV participants additional baseball opportunities outside of, and in tandem with, BPV league play. The program intent is to help develop well-rounded baseball players for the BHS program.

Along with participating in all BPV activities (games, practices, camps, clinics), players selected from a tryout by a BBC panel are eligible to also participate in all unique BBC team activities (weekend travel tournaments/games, practices, offseason workouts and opportunities to learn from current BHS baseball players and coaches).

While the BBC is for families enrolled in Bettendorf Schools, the BPV will continue to offer Pleasant Valley School District families (and other schools) additional weekend tournament opportunities in tandem with regular BPV practices and games. The only difference between any BBC or BPV tournament teams is the direct affiliated status with the high school program.

The BBC teams will wear uniforms designed by the BHS baseball program in the appearance to match the BHS varsity uniforms.

If you are interested in joining the BBC program, and have yet to fill out the BBC player or coach survey, please fill out the form at the following link: https://forms.gle/og7zhvipxkfwURTq8.

Also, if interested in the BBC, please plan to attend the meeting, where more details about the program will be shared and discussed.

The Sept. 20 meeting is an opportunity to hear about the long-term vision for the BBC program from BHS varsity head coach Blake Hanna and other board members.

The BBC is committed to developing a quality organization with well-led teams that will cultivate future Bulldogs. This exploratory event will feature Q&A and allow the BBC to assess interest and potential timelines. Currently, the BBC is aiming for coach interviews by next spring, tryouts next summer and team launches in the fall of 2021.

Some basic details: BBC plans for teams to develop both by playing at their current age level in weekend USSSA tournaments and by “playing up” in BPV weeknight games, a combination that will help develop well-rounded, multi-position athletes.

While travel baseball normally includes significant costs, the BBC is committed to offering opportunities to players from a broad range of economic backgrounds.
